Which would be okay if it wasn't for the fact in the mean time yet another new release has got itself on the list and if this cycle continues then at some point the IMDB top 250 movie list is going to feature more modern movies which whilst maybe good aren't great.

So what can be done?

Well the first thing which could be done is for IMDB to tackle the issue. In their formula for creating the IMDB top 250 movie list they should factor in the age of the movie. Possibly reducing the value of member rates in the first couple of years after release so the enthusiasm doesn't create this problem. That way the list would end up more realistic as it would consist of more of those movies which are great and have stood the test of time. It would also stop over enthusiastic members artificially boosting the rankings of newer movies just to get them high up on the list.

What they can also do is make the rating of a movie a more thoughtful process. They could ask you to rate different aspects of the movie such as the storyline, acting, effects and camera work taking an average of these rates to calculate your overall rating. Of course some will still just rate at the top of the scale on all of these but it will encourage some members to think more deeply about what goes into a great movie which is what the IMDB top 250 movie list should be all about.

And something which members can do is to start thinking seriously about what they rate a movie before they click the mouse. Even if IMDB doesn't prompt you to take into consideration the different elements and whether in a few years time you will have forgotten much of the movie you are about to rate a 10.

The movie "Race" was released on 2008 directed by the infamous duo Abbas and Mustan. It is a suspense thriller with many twists and turns. This movie tells a story between two brothers Ranvir (Saif Ali Khan) and Rajiv (Akshaye Khanna). They have a family business that deals with horse racing. Ranvir the eldest is the one running their business with a very competitive aura whereas the younger sibling Rajiv is more engrossed in drinking.

Another character is the fashion model Sonia (Bipasha Basu) which later on captures the heart of Ranvir. And also Sophia (Katrina Kaif) is Ranvir's secretary who's in love with him for a very long time. The conflict began when Rajiv fell in love with Sonia and swears he would his alcoholism if she (Sonia) is to marry him. And of course, Ranvir gave up his love to grant his brother's wish.

Then a chain of events happens which will surprise and shock you. Actually "Race" is something you can't predict because it's like a mind game. When you thought this would be the ending, it would suddenly stun you with another twist. The major problem with "Race" is, with a great deal of twist and turns in every incident the essence of the movie to be a thriller looses because the shock value decreases.

The location of the film was in South Africa which of course has a great effect on the audience with its astounding view. The action sequences were great enough to make the viewers glued to screen but as the story goes it became tangled. Somehow an average viewer would be lost and confused on to what is happening and how did it happen. The different scheme such as murder, bribery, betrayal, and double crossing doesn't give a good portrayal on screen. The background music and songs do clash with the movie but the stunts are still imperfect and you can actually even see the wires they're using. But as for the acting, the casts did great even though there are some parts it is overacted and funny they still justified their roles.

Overall, "Race" has the style and glamour that is seen in the modern world. The movie would have more impact if the story is more realistic. The fast cars, horse race, scenic views and of course the sexy ladies are the treats you see in the film. Though it doesn't have a good narrative, it still is worth watching for entertainment
