The movie "Race" was released on 2008 directed by the infamous duo Abbas and Mustan. It is a suspense thriller with many twists and turns. This movie tells a story between two brothers Ranvir (Saif Ali Khan) and Rajiv (Akshaye Khanna). They have a family business that deals with horse racing. Ranvir the eldest is the one running their business with a very competitive aura whereas the younger sibling Rajiv is more engrossed in drinking.
Another character is the fashion model Sonia (Bipasha Basu) which later on captures the heart of Ranvir. And also Sophia (Katrina Kaif) is Ranvir's secretary who's in love with him for a very long time. The conflict began when Rajiv fell in love with Sonia and swears he would his alcoholism if she (Sonia) is to marry him. And of course, Ranvir gave up his love to grant his brother's wish.
Then a chain of events happens which will surprise and shock you. Actually "Race" is something you can't predict because it's like a mind game. When you thought this would be the ending, it would suddenly stun you with another twist. The major problem with "Race" is, with a great deal of twist and turns in every incident the essence of the movie to be a thriller looses because the shock value decreases.
The location of the film was in South Africa which of course has a great effect on the audience with its astounding view. The action sequences were great enough to make the viewers glued to screen but as the story goes it became tangled. Somehow an average viewer would be lost and confused on to what is happening and how did it happen. The different scheme such as murder, bribery, betrayal, and double crossing doesn't give a good portrayal on screen. The background music and songs do clash with the movie but the stunts are still imperfect and you can actually even see the wires they're using. But as for the acting, the casts did great even though there are some parts it is overacted and funny they still justified their roles.
Overall, "Race" has the style and glamour that is seen in the modern world. The movie would have more impact if the story is more realistic. The fast cars, horse race, scenic views and of course the sexy ladies are the treats you see in the film. Though it doesn't have a good narrative, it still is worth watching for entertainment
